The Concept of the edge board is quite beautiful. Basically integrating two boards into one. Where the flat bottom of the board is located, it is considered a small hydroplane board, which is under the traditional "bottom" of the board. Once the board gains enough speed, the board lifts up out of the water and starts planing on the smaller area, thereby reducing the drag and gaining speed. The hard edges that lead to the rails of the surfboard can create more grip or holding power through a turn or into the wave. This technical combination allows the board to create the most amount of speed that you can achieve, while creating enhanced hold and grip when you re-engage your rails into the wave. We combined a 4+1 set up in order to utilize the speed and performance of a quad set up, or for a more traditional approach, with either a power blade like fin or another flex style fin for speed and swooping turns on the face. I would recommend this board for riders who want the most out of their surfboard in a one board quiver for when the waves are ok to good. Of course they love point and reef breaks but, you will love how the smaller models could lock into your favorite sand bar.
